Macbeth – Performance & Workshop

By Box Clever Theatre

Suitable for: Years 9, 10 and 11 with adult

Performance length: 55–60 minutes, followed by a 30-minute workshop

Delivered by Box Clever Theatre, an award-winning, writer-led company dedicated to creating contemporary theatre for young people, this fast-paced production uses vibrant language and dynamic physical theatre to explore the devastating consequences of one act of evil. Macbeth’s ambition leads him from loyalty to betrayal, as the ripple effects of his actions destroy not only himself but also those closest to him. Alongside Lady Macbeth, he becomes increasingly consumed by the horrors they unleash, while a third character challenges and reveals the wider world of Shakespeare’s tragedy.

Workshop: Following the performance, students take part in an interactive workshop examining Shakespeare’s presentation of kingship in Macbeth. Through Duncan, Macbeth, Malcolm, Edward the Confessor, and Lady Macbeth, students are engaged in discussions of power, morality, and fate. The session highlights key quotations and themes, including the tension between supernatural influence and human choice—providing valuable insights for study and exam preparation.

Please note this event is revision support for students, it is not a full performance of the play.
