This a 4 mile circular walk from 'Visit Hampshire'. You can follow in Jane Austin's footprints by taking this route across fields and through village. This walk is suitable for bigger kids and their grown-ups.

A 4.5-mile circular walk in the heart of Jane Austen country. Start at Jane Austen's House in Chawton and follow in her footsteps across fields and through the village of Farringdon. Jane was inspired by this beautiful countryside to write and revise all her novels.

Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life in Chawton, from 1809 until 1817. The 17th century house, now Jane Austen’s House Museum, is open to the public. Here, where she lived with her mother and sister, Cassandra, and their friend Martha Lloyd, Jane wrote or revised her six great novels.

If you wish to learn more about Jane Austen's life, walking this route is a must. Follow in her footsteps across fields and through the village of Farringdon. Jane was inspired by this beautiful countryside to write and revise all her novels.
